WCW Sold: 11th Jan 2001

Time Warner agrees to sell World Championship Wrestling ATLANTA (Reuters) - Turner Broadcasting System Inc., a unit of media giant Time Warner Inc. , said Thursday it has agreed to sell its money-losing World Championship Wrestling unit to Fusient Media Ventures. Financial details were not being released, Turner executives said in a conference call with reporters. Fusient's principals include the former head of the WCW and the founders of the Classic Sports Network cable-TV service, according to a news release. Analysts have estimated that WCW, which produces professional wrestling shows and runs second to World Wrestling Federation Entertainment, lost about $80 million during 2000.
